SNCF G30: the 30-minute guarantee
The carrier's guarantee and the limits of reported delays
G30 is the name SNCF gives to its delay compensation guarantee: the Garantie 30 minutes. That is the name the rule exists under, and that is why this page is called what it is called.
A delay leaves two different traces, and they do not do the same job. The scale belongs to the carrier. Here, the records preserve reported times without confirming what happened.
What the official rule says
What follows is taken from the SNCF Connect help page «Retard de votre train et remboursement», read on 19 August 2026. It is here to orient you, not to settle anything: the carrier's own page is what counts, and a commercial rule can change without notice.
Services covered: domestic TGV INOUI, international TGV INOUI, INTERCITÉS with or without compulsory reservation.
The threshold: an arrival delay of 30 minutes or more.
The scale, as a share of the ticket price:
- under 30 minutes — no compensation
- 30 minutes to 2 hours — 25%
- 2 to 3 hours — 50%
- over 3 hours — 75%
The form: between 30 minutes and 1 hour of delay, compensation comes as a voucher. Beyond that, an indemnity may be paid in cash.
The claim is filed with SNCF, using your file reference, through the dedicated form.
What we do not copy here
The exact deadline for filing a claim, the minimum amount below which nothing is paid, the cases of automatic compensation and the detailed procedure are not repeated on this page: we could not read them on an official page on the day this was written, and an approximate rule about money does more harm than no rule at all. They are on the carrier's site.
What this site does
This site stores the available reported times and delays with their timestamps. These records can contain forecasts or scheduled times. They confirm neither the train's passage nor its final arrival delay.
What this site does not do
Compensation is a contractual relationship between the passenger and the carrier. It depends on the ticket, the fare, the reason for the delay and the conditions of the service concerned. None of those things are in a public feed, so none of them are here.
In practice: the claim is filed with SNCF. This site has neither your file nor the power to open it.
Why say it this plainly
Because a site that suggests otherwise wastes your time at the moment you have the least of it. A record can support a claim. It does not replace one, and it is not worth an official document from the carrier.
The threshold we show, which is not the G30 one
On this site, a train counts as on time below 5 minutes of delay, and heavily delayed beyond 15. Those two numbers have nothing to do with the 30 minutes of the G30: they classify reported delays without measuring confirmed arrivals or determining compensation. A percentage without a threshold means nothing: depending on the threshold you pick, the same network looks excellent or poor.
What is the G30?
It is the commercial name of SNCF's «Garantie 30 minutes». It covers arrival delays of 30 minutes or more on domestic and international TGV INOUI services and on INTERCITÉS. Source: the SNCF Connect help page «Retard de votre train et remboursement», read on 19 August 2026.
What is the G30 scale?
As published by SNCF Connect on 19 August 2026: nothing below 30 minutes, 25% of the ticket price between 30 minutes and 2 hours, 50% between 2 and 3 hours, 75% beyond 3 hours. The scale can change: the official page is the one that counts.
Can this site get me a refund?
No. It does not sell tickets, does not have your file and has no connection with SNCF. The claim is filed with the carrier, using your file reference.
Does the record shown here count as proof?
It is a timestamped record of published data, not an official document or a confirmed measurement of the final arrival delay.
Does the G30 apply to TER and Transilien services?
The official SNCF Connect page names only domestic TGV INOUI, international TGV INOUI and INTERCITÉS. For other services the rules are not part of this guarantee, and we do not invent them here.
